When it comes to moving, you’ve got this. You have plans and lists for everything that needs to be done before your house gets packed up and your family relocates to your new town. Then everything changes, instead of moving back east closer to home, you are now headed to Hawaii or Italy and your heart sinks. Not because of the location or adventures that await but because of all the time you just invested in preparing for the city you thought you were moving to. Now what do you do?
It doesn’t sound very pretty but I give you permission to take a moment to embrace the suck. It happens, that thing you had fixed your sites on didn’t happen and your bummed. We are human and its ok to take a moment and be upset about it but that’s it, just a moment. We can’t wallow there in the “what could have been”. As business owners we have to press forward and as people who move, we have to focus on where we are going and not on what we might have been doing. So pour yourself a glass of wine, take a deep breathe, and lets adjust plans.
When things change, look for the silver lining in that change. Maybe you were moving back home but now you are headed to Hawaii. While it may be on the opposite side of the country, it affords you new places to photograph and new learning experiences. Look at this as a door opening rather than closing and you are already half way there to being successful. Want more information on how to handle situations like this?
